As we become more aware of our impact on the environment and embrace eco-friendly lifestyles, cork may well see a surge in popularity as a biodegradable, renewable resource. The process of cork production doesn’t harm the cork tree, but rather benefits it and prolongs its lifespan. In addition, cork trees that are stripped of their bark actually absorb more CO2 than those that are left idle. The environmentally friendly material featured in Cork Leather’s products is sourced from Portugal, which is one of the world’s major cork producers. The handmade collection available in-store ranges from loafers and ballet flats to pens, wallets and aprons. Wares are available online or at the Hawthorne boutique.
